give or take.

We worked on a refresh of the existing website for the Sofronie Foundation, modernising the platform by removing legacy code and rebuilding key parts using the latest version of ProcessWire and a clean front end structure based on UIkit.

The aim wasn’t to reinvent everything, but to bring clarity, performance, and maintainability back into the build while improving the overall user experience. The previous setup had become harder to manage over time, so the refresh focused on simplifying the codebase and creating a more stable foundation for future updates.

A key part of the work was introducing a more modern front end approach using UIkit. This helped standardise layout, spacing, and responsive behaviour across the site, while keeping the overall build lightweight and consistent. It also made development faster and more predictable when working across different page types and components.

We also updated the CMS layer using the latest version of ProcessWire, giving editors a more reliable and flexible system for managing content. This was important for the foundation, as they needed a setup that was easy to maintain without relying on technical support for day-to-day updates.

One of the standout elements of the site is the homepage video. Rather than using a static hero, the cinematic video immediately sets the tone and gives visitors a stronger sense of the foundation’s mission and impact. It anchors the experience and helps introduce the organisation in a more engaging way.

From there, the rest of the site is structured around clean, editorial-style layouts. We focused on hierarchy and spacing so that content feels easy to scan and digest. The typography is deliberately simple and accessible, keeping attention on the messaging rather than design flourishes.

Overall, the approach was about refinement rather than reinvention — cleaning up the underlying structure, improving performance, and making sure the design supports the content in a clear and purposeful way.
